Certificates of Insurance and Indemnification
Certificates of Insurance Provided by the University of California
If your department has a contract with a non-University entity and requires a certificate
of insurance please contact Rick Coulon at x47419.
A copy of the contract, specifically the insurance section, must be submitted to
the Office of Insurance & Risk Management before a certificate can be issued.
Certificates of Insurance Issued to the University of California
Insurance certificates issued to the University should name "The Regents of the
University of California" as an additional insured and include the required limits as
indicated in the contract. For review of certificates of insurance issued to the
University, contact the Office of Insurance & Risk Management.
Contracts should also include appropriate indemnification language which protects each
party from liability exposures. Following is the University's standard mutual
indemnification language:
THE REGENTS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, shall defend,
indemnify and hold PARTY B, its officers, agents and employees harmless from and
against any and all liability, loss, expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees) or
claims for injury or damages arising out of the performance of this Agreement but only in
proportion to and to the extent such liability, loss, expense, attorneys' fees, or claims
for injury or damages are caused by or result from the negligent or intentional acts or
omissions of THE REGENTS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, its officers,
agents or employees.
PARTY B shall defend, indemnify and hold THE REGENTS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, its officers, agents and employees harmless from and against any and all liability, loss, expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees) or claims for injury or damages arising out of the performance of this Agreement but only in proportion to and to the extent such liability, loss, expense, attorneys' fees, or claims for injury or damages are caused by or result from the negligent or intentional acts or omissions of PARTY B, its officers, agents or employees.
